- To promote and foster mutual understanding, goodwill and friendship among members and to be of assistance to members.
- To be of assistance to members in furthering thier education and widening thier fields of knowledge.
- To sponser, encourage and support activities calculated to promote closer social, cultural and scientific contacts between Sri Lanka and socialist countries.
- To be of assistance to Sri Lankans who are engaged in study programmes in higher educational institutions in socialist countries.
- To liaise with academic and other socialist institutions of socialist and other countries where ever necessary.
- To establish contacts with other professionals and other prosfessional bodies for the purpose of exchanging and sharing mutual experience and knowledge.
- To promote national unity, peace and development in Sri Lanka.
- To liaise with institutions/Organisations devoted to promote and maintain world peace,friendship and co-operation among all nations.
