New appointment for Dr Weerasinghe PDF Print E-mail

President Mahinda Rajapaksa appointed Dr Saman Weerasinghe as an advisor last week.

Dr Weerasinghe is the chairman of many multinational and local companies and also serves as a consultant in the international section of the Moscow Medical Academy.

An old boy of Mahinda College, Galle, Dr Weerasinghe pursued higher studies in Russia after winning a scholarship in 1980s. He graduated with a 1st Class Honours Degree from the Moscow Medical Academy in Russia.

He served as Russia-Sri Lanka Friendship Society Vice President and also Sri Lanka-Russia Friendship Society International Secretary.

The Russian Parliament in June awarded an honorary diploma and a medal to him for his contribution to the uplift of education, culture and humanitarian services in the Asian region.
